UMKC Oak Street Parking Garage Design-Build

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Oak Street Garage project consisted of the demolition of an existing steel framed garage and replacing it with a 1,400-space garage with two associated accessible pedestrian bridges and all related site and utility work. Ground level space for the UMKC Police Department and Campus Mail Facilities was also included in the garage.

What We Did

Taliaferro & Browne provided civil and structural engineering services for this design-build project. Civil engineering tasks included site layout, grading, erosion control plans, storm, sanitary, and water service lines, the relocation of a major sanitary sewer main, and street and sidewalk improvements.

Structural tasks included the design of foundations for two pedestrian bridges as well as structural detailing for the pedestrian enclosure for the bridges, and the design of a large cast-in-place concrete retaining wall.
