JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for basic survey activities under direct supervision in which duties may include research, drafting, field work, reading survey drawings, field coding, computations, use and maintenance of tools and equipment.


CHARACTERISTICS: 
 

  • Acquires basic knowledge and develops fundamental surveying skills
  • Acquires knowledge of different types of surveying
  • Acquires knowledge of the care, cleaning, and use of surveying tools and equipment
  • Acquires knowledge of basic mathematics and measurements relating to surveying
  • Acquires computational ability, survey notetaking, drafting/CAD skills, and map reading


RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 

  • Manuel labor related to field survey activities
  • Comprehension and proper use of survey field codes
  • Interpreting field maps and field notes
  • Assist with field safety procedures, such as traffic control and OSHA requirements
  • Setup and care of surveying instruments and their accessories
  • Become acquainted with standard drafting practices and techniques
  • Become acquainted with preparation of drawings and exhibits using computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Works under the direction of Professional Land Surveyor, engineers, technicians, or administrative staff


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred NSPS Level 1 Certification
  • Physically able to perform manual labor
  • Acquire knowledge of basic first aid skills and safety requirements
  • Acquire knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Acquire knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Entry level with limited survey experience
